By Laura O'Sullivan

Birmingham-based housebuilder Wavensmere Homes has appointed its first land director.

Katie Dean joins from Urban Splash, where she was responsible for identifying and acquiring brownfield and greenfield sites around the country for the urban regeneration company.

At Wavensmere Homes, Katie’s brief is to develop a national land strategy for the business and including land appraisals and acquisitions.

Wavensmere Homes currently has 2,500 plots in production throughout the UK. There are a number of significant placemaking schemes in the pipeline with a strong focus on the West Midlands and Southwest.

The team has grown exponentially and continues to grow and maintain strategic partnerships with key players within the house building industry. Notably Galliard Homes, Apsley House Capital PLC and BBS Capital as well as forward-thinking local authorities to assist and develop their visions. This is spearheaded by Birmingham-based Architectural practice, Glancy Nicos who have been instrumental in designing and creating these visionary opportunities.

Katie said: “Wavensmere Homes made its reputation restoring historic and characterful buildings but is increasingly moving into the volume homes market. I am looking forward to assisting the business and its passionate team as they embark on this new trajectory.”

James Dickens, managing director of Wavensmere Homes, said: “Land acquisition is crucial to the continued growth of the company to secure new and exciting opportunities. Katie’s experience in urban placemaking, listed building regeneration and master planning is a perfect fit. Katie has an incredible network and infectious drive, and we are very lucky to have her join the Wavensmere team.”

In addition to Katie, three other team members have joined including Eamon Ferry as commercial manager to head up the new Birmingham scheme, Belgrave Village, in a joint venture with The Galliard Apsley Partnership, and Rob Scott who is one of the company’s new senior site managers.
