New Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Venue Revealed

It is exactly two years to go until Birmingham hosts the Commonwealth Games and organisers have marked the date by unveiling a new venue in the heart of the City.

Smithfield, previously the site of Birmingham’s wholesale markets, will be home to beach volleyball and three-v-three basketball.

The site is currently derelict; however, it will soon be transformed into the beating heart of the Commonwealth Games, with views to the iconic Selfridges building.

The venues central location will help showcase what the region has to offer to the Games’ global audience.

Birmingham will take centre stage as it hosts the Games in 2022, bringing athletes, coaches, and thousands of spectators to the city.

The Forge, Digbeth

The Smithfield site is in the city centre and is only a short walk from our development ‘The Forge’ that will deliver 140 luxury apartments in Digbeth.
