Christmas Decorations

Tis the season – to put up Christmas decorations!

2020 is nearing an end and the festive period has arrived. Tuesday sees the 1st December which means most of us will be putting up our Christmas decorations. Whether you started early in mid-November or sticking to tradition of the fourth Sunday before Christmas, this is for you.

This year has been testing, to say the least. Which is why it’s even more important to keep traditions alive where we can. Christmas decorations are the ideal way to get in the festive mood.

It’s big business for some but for others it can feel stressful. Which is why we’ve put together these Christmas decorations top tips!

  1. Colour scheme

A Christmas decoration colour scheme stretches far and wide. Long gone are the traditional red, green and gold. Many people now opt for more colourful arrangements such as rainbow, pink and white and so much more. Whatever you decide to choose, it’s essential to keep the theme running throughout your home.

  1. Wreaths

Once you’ve decided on a colour scheme, it’s time to get creative. Beautiful Christmas door wreaths are the first point of call for yourself and visitors (albeit will be less this year).  In addition, many local businesses sell stunning Christmas wreaths which you support as well as ensuring you have the prettiest door on the road. Head over to Etsy to shop wreaths!

  1. Tree!

The Christmas tree – arguably the best part of decorating. Although nothing beats the fresh smell of pine during December, artificial trees are far less hassle and last for years to come. Whatever you choose, it’s time to get your favourite baubles out. Ensure you achieve the right balance of lights, ornaments and tinsel (if tinsel is your thing). Take your time with the tree as this is the focal point of any house during Christmas.

  1. Candles

Christmas simply wouldn’t be the same without candles. Especially scented ones. Enjoy the scent of cinnamon and gingerbread as soon as you walk through your door. Candles are also the perfect way to create a cosy ambience when tucked up on the sofa watching your favourite festive film. Swap a naked flame for electrical ones if you have children or mischievous pups running through the house.

  1. Mantel

Arrange tall white or gold candles on the mantel nestled in a beautiful garland. Garland’s instantly transform a room into a grotto and last for years if they are well kept in storage. See these below for inspiration.

  1. Stairs

Match your mantel garland with your stairs to compliment your chosen theme or colour. Your house will be looking cosy and Christmassy in no time!
